Aliss Al Islam

Aliss Al Islam

Bangladesh
Bowler
Off break 29 yrs.

Born on December 12, 1996, in Dhaka, Aliss Al Islam is a right-arm mystery off-spinner whose career has been characterized by dramatic high-pressure debuts, bowling action controversies, and resilient comebacks through the domestic circuit. Beginning his journey at the grassroots level with Kathalbagan Green Crescent Club, he worked his way up through Dhaka's lower-division leagues before catching the attention of former national coach Khaled Mahmud while serving as a net bowler for the Dhaka Dynamites.

Aliss entered the national spotlight in spectacular fashion on January 11, 2019, during his professional T20 debut for the Dhaka Dynamites against the Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). After dropping two catches earlier in the match, he turned the game around by taking a hat-trick - dismissing Mohammad Mithun, Mashrafe Mortaza, and Farhad Reza in consecutive deliveries - to finish with figures of 4/26 and seal a thrilling two-run victory. However, the euphoria was short-lived as his bowling action was reported as suspect just two days later, forcing him to undergo remedial work before returning to competitive cricket.

Despite the setback, Aliss continued his progression across white-ball formats, making his List A debut in March 2020 for Old DOHS Sports Club in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. Over subsequent seasons, he represented multiple BPL franchises including the Khulna Tigers, Comilla Victorians, and Chittagong Kings.

His breakthrough white-ball consistency arrived during the 2024 BPL season with Comilla Victorians, where his tight economy rates and ability to bowl in the powerplay earned him a maiden call-up to the Bangladesh T20I squad in February 2024, though a finger injury delayed his international debut.

Continuing to hone his mystery spin variations - including a sharp carrom ball and arm-ball - Aliss re-established himself in Bangladesh's national selection conversations through strong domestic performances in 2025 and 2026. Heading into October 2026, he reached another career milestone after earning his maiden call-up to the national team for the tri-series in the UAE against Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, solidifying his stature as one of Bangladesh's premier white-ball spin talents.
