Maddy Green
Born on October 20, 1992, Madeline Lee Green has spent well over a decade as one of the most dependable right-handed middle-order batters in the White Ferns setup. Capable of offering occasional off-break bowling and backup wicketkeeping, she built a reputation early in her career for composed strokeplay, sharp game awareness in run chases, and safe hands in the field.
She made her international mark early, debuting in a WT20I against Australia in February 2012 before earning her WODI cap against the West Indies two years later in February 2014. Her defining moment arrived in June 2018 in Dublin, where she smashed her maiden ODI century - a blistering 121 off 77 balls - as New Zealand posted a world-record total of 490 for 4 against Ireland. That performance earned her the Ruth Martin Cup for domestic batting excellence at the New Zealand Cricket Awards and paved the way for a central contract in August 2018.
Establishing herself as a big-match player, Green became a constant fixture in major global events, representing New Zealand at the 2018 T20 World Cup in the West Indies, the 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia, the 2022 ODI World Cup on home soil, and the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Domestically, she featured prominently for both the Auckland Hearts and Wellington Blaze across the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield and Super Smash, alongside building an international franchise résumé with Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers in the WBBL, Welsh Fire and Central Sparks in the UK, and Barbados Royals in the WCPL.
Her international career continued to hit milestone heights in the mid-2020s. In September 2024, she was named in the squad for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in the UAE, where New Zealand lifted the trophy. Following an ODI series tour to India in October 2024, Green maintained stellar form across 2025 and 2026. In March 2025, she struck an ODI century (100) against Sri Lanka, before embarking on a short stint with English county side The Blaze in May 2025.
Early 2026 proved to be one of the most prolific stretches of her career: in April 2026, she registered a career-best, unbeaten 141 off 128 balls against South Africa in Wellington to seal a series victory. She followed that by finishing as New Zealand's top run-scorer during their tour of England in May 2026, earned a nomination for ICC Women's Player of the Month, and subsequently represented the White Ferns at the 2026 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in England.
By September 2026, featuring for Barbados Royals in the Women's Caribbean Premier League, Green continued to bring veteran stability, adaptable middle-order finishing, and proven leadership to every side she represented.
