Jitendra Savjibhai Vaghani, also known as Jitu Vaghani, is the sitting MLA from Bhavnagar West since 2012. He is the present Education Minister in the Bhupendrabhai Patel Cabinet since September 2021. In 2016, when Vijay Rupani became the Chief Minister, the BJP chose Jitu Vaghani to replace him as party president. He was replaced by Chandrakant Raghunath Patil as BJP state president in 2020. Vaghani started his political career in 1990 with Bhavnagar City BJP Yuva Morcha. He lost his first Assembly election from the Bhavnagar South constituency in 2007. He was defeated by the Congress party's Shaktisinh Gohil. In 2012, Vaghani won his first election from Bhavnagar West by defeating Congress candidate Mansukhbhai Raiyabhai Kanani. Jitu Vaghani again won the same constituency in 2017 when he defeated Congress party's Dilipsinh Ajitsinh Gohil with a huge margin of 27,185 votes. Vaghani is taking on Congress party's Kishorsinh Gohil and AAP's Raju Solanki.
