Tusharbhai Amarsinhbhai Chaudhari has been fielded by the 'Grand Old Party' from the Khedbrahma constituency in the upcoming Gujarat Assembly polls. He is taking on Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Ashvinbhai Laxmanbhai Kotwal and Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Bipinchandra Gameti. Born on December 18, 1965, Chaudhari was elected to the 14th and 15th Lok Sabha from Mandvi (2004-2009) and Bardoli (2009-2014) constituencies respectively. He lost two consecutive Lok Sabha elections from Bardoli in 2014 and 2019 against BJP's Prabhubhai Nagarbhai Vasava. He also lost the 2017 Assembly polls from the Mahuva constituency by over 6,000 votes against BJP's Mohanbhai Dhanjibhai Dhodiya. He served as the Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs from 2009 to 2011 under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Later, he became the Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways between 2011 and 2012. He is the son of Amarsinh Bhilabhai Chaudhari, who was the former CM of Gujarat from 1985 to 1989.
