Lehra is one of the Assembly seats of the Sangrur district in Punjab and also part of the Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency. Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt)’s Parminder Singh Dhindsa is the incumbent MLA from this seat. Dhindsa was the Akali Dal MLA when he won the seat in 2017 and defeated Rajinder Kaur Bhattal. Interestingly, Bhattal had won five consecutive Assembly elections from the Congress party’s ticket on this seat. Bhattal is again contesting the elections against Dhindsa. The Lehra Assembly constituency is a general seat, i.e. it is not reserved for SCs or STs. The voting on this seat is scheduled for February 20, 2022.
