Commentary
We are back for the all-important run chase! The umpires are back out in the middle and so are the players of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rohit Sharma comes in as the Impact sub for Mumbai Indians in place of Karn Sharma and he will open the innings alongside Ryan Rickelton. Mohammad Shami to begin proceedings with the ball, let's go...
... The Run Chase ...
Right then, 163 is what Mumbai Indians need to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season, and they will be confident about it with that long batting lineup. The surface is on the slower side, but if there is any dew, Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to bowl out of their skins to defend this one. Scores below 165 are rarely defended at this venue, but it is all still possible. Let's find out who comes out on top. The second essay is up next.
Will Jacks, the top performer with the ball for MI, is down for a chat. He says that there is a bit of turn and grip for the spinners and the slower ones, and holding up as well. Add that they are happy with the target, but they will also have to bat well. Says the Powerplay will be important, and hopefully they start well and take the game deep and chase it. Ends by saying that SRH would have seen them how they bowled, and they will do the same things, so they need to be a bit careful as well.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are known for their free-flowing hitting, but the openers simply couldn't get going in the Powerplay. They faced a lot of slower deliveries, but Abhishek Sharma did manage to ride his luck and get 40 crucial runs as Travis Head simply couldn't get going. The middle order also faced difficulty in finding the fence, and even though not many dot balls were bowled, SRH were forced to settle for plenty of singles. Heinrich Klaasen did manage to get his side some much-needed momentum in the 18th over, after which Aniket Verma and even Pat Cummins made sure that they ended with a bit of a flourish.
Mumbai Indians were on the money from the start and bowled brilliantly up top as their three experienced pacers came to the fore. After the Powerplay, it was a different story as Karn Sharma was out injured, and with two left-handers out in the middle, Will Jacks was tossed the ball, and he didn't disappoint. An extended spell for Jacks, and he picked up two wickets. Hardik Pandya also got a wicket and kept things tight at the other end. The likes of Boult and Bumrah got those yorkers in at the death, but Deepak Chahar and Hardik went for over 20 runs each in the 18th and 20th over to spoil the good work somewhat.
That is a masterclass in bowling from the home side, and yet it feels like the visitors have got to a score that could be around par on this particular surface. Mumbai Indians will be fairly happy with the total on the board, but will feel they could have restricted SRH for fewer runs as well. SRH, though, will be grateful for Klaasen and Verma, who did get a few big hits away at the death and took them over the 160-run mark.

SIX! That's sensational hitting from SRH in the last over and they have got past the 160 mark here! A low full toss, on the pads, from Hardik and Pat Cummins leans on a bit to flick it across. The ball goes over the deep backward square leg fence for a biggie. 22 off the over.
Bye! A slower bouncer and around off, Aniket Verma hops and looks to cut it but misses. The keeper fails to collect it cleanly and the ball rolls away towards fine leg and the batters get a bye.
Aniket Verma doesn't make a good connection this time but still gets two runs. Fuller and around off, Verma comes forward a bit and lofts it down the ground. He mistimes it highly in the air and the ball lands it ahead of the incoming long off fielder. The batters get run a couple.
SIX! TOP SHOT! Hardik bowls a full toss and pays the price! Aniket Verma stays deep in his crease this time as well and flicks it. The ball goes over the deep backward square leg fence for another biggie.
SIX! That's an outrageous shot! Slightly fuller and outside off, Aniket Verma stays deep rooted in his crese and swings it. He gets a good connection as the ball sails over the sweeper cover fence for a biggie.
Much fuller and around middle, Aniket Verma clears out his front leg and drills it to wide long on. He comes back for the second run but the third umpire has checked and calls it a short run as Aniket fails to drag his bat in the crease at non- striker's end.
Hardik Pandya to bowl the last over.

It is a legal ball! A yorker again and down the leg side this time, Pat Cummins shuffles across and misses his flick shot. It is deemed a legal ball by the on-field umpire and Pat Cummins has taken a review. The third umpire checks the replays and as Cummins has shuffles in his crease so it will be a legal ball.
Sunrisers Hyderabad have taken a review for a wide call. The on-field call is that it is a fair delivery. Pat Cummins has moved a lot in his crease, and the replay shows that it is just going past the leg stump, and if Cummins was in his original stance, the ball would have hit him. Not a wide!
A low full toss again and outside off this time, Aniket Verma stays leg side of the ball and opens bat face to slice it to deep cover for a single.
A low full toss this time, around middle, Cummins just manages to turn it to wide long on for a single.
That's sensational bowling from Bumrah! A well-directed yorker and around off, Aniket Verma has taken a step forward but only jams it out beside the pitch to the off side. They get a single.
A yorker and around off, Pat Cummins squeezes it to deep point for a single to get off the mark.
Pat Cummins walks out to bat now.
OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! Jasprit Bumrah might have saved a fair few runs for his side and the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen is gone for 37(28). Bumrah bowls a low full toss, around off, Heinrich Klaasen has given himself too much room and fails to make any connection to that full toss ball as he misses out. The ball goes past his bottom part of the bat and rattles the off stump.
Jasprit Bumrah (3-0-17-0) to bowl the penultimate over.

On a good length and outside off, Heinrich Klaasen cuts it to deep point for a single now and 20 off the over.
SIX! TOP SHOT! Deepak bowls a full toss on the pads, and Heinrich Klaasen punishes him as he flicks it over the deep square leg fence for a biggie. That's poor bowling from an experienced bowler.
FOUR! That's proper hitting at the death overs! Deepak drags his length and bowls it short, around middle, with pace taken off as well. Heinrich Klaasen waits for it and muscles it towards cow corner for another boundary.
FOUR! Heinrich Klaasen is getting going here now and the fans of SRH will be happy! Full length again and around middle and leg, Heinrich Klaasen gives himself room to hammer it through mid-wicket for a boundary.
SIX! JUST OVER! Deepak goes around the wicket and bowls it much fuller and outside off, Heinrich Klaasen clears out his front leg and slams it over covers. The fielder in the deep runs in to his right but the ball sails over him for a biggie.
A play and a miss! Short of a length and well outside off, Heinrich Klaasen hops up and looks to ramp it over third man but misses.
Change? Yes, Deepak Chahar is back on.
Commentary
Right then, that is it from this rather one-sided affair where Mumbai Indians made light work of Sunrisers Hyderabad.. Next up in the IPL 2025 is a huge clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. It is also the 18th Anniversary of IPL on 18th April, Friday, which makes it an even more special occasion. The first ball will be bowled at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT), but as you know, you can join us early for all the build-up to the match. Until then, cheers and goodbye!
Will Jacks is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his all-round brilliance. He says that it was a slow start for the team and himself in the tournament, but it feels nice to contribute to the team. Adds that it wasn't a great start for him, dropping that catch on the first ball, but it ended well, so he is happy. Says he got done with the pace and was late to react, but should have taken it. Mentions that it took a little bit of time to adjust to the new franchise, but now everything is getting in place nicely. Says that they have good support staff, and he is trying to learn from most of the people around here. Further adds that he can bat at any position as per the requirement of the team, as long as the communication is clear. Tells that the skipper told him to put pressure with the ball, but you also have to make your own decisions. Ends by saying that, while batting, his plan was to put the pressure on the spinners.
Hardik Pandya, the victorious skipper of Mumbai Indians, says that the way they bowled today was very smart and goes on to give credit to the bowlers who forced the opposition to play better shots. Mentions that it felt like it was going to be a good wicket given the colour of the grass, but once a couple of balls stuck in the first over from Deepak Chahar, they planned accordingly and even in the middle overs, the pacers nailed the yorker. Goes on to applaud Will Jacks for his all-round ability and says that they back him. Ends by saying that when you are nearing a chase with overs to spare, you need to play smartly, and they tried to put the foot on the pedal towards the end and also mentions that they are looking forward to the next game against rivals CSK.
Presentation Time...
Ryan Rickelton of the Mumbai Indians is up for a quick chat. He says that it feels nice to contribute to the team’s win, though there were not too many runs; he scored. Adds that it wasn’t the easiest of the wickets tonight, but they planned very well for this chase. Mentions that it is extremely difficult to adjust to these conditions coming from South Africa, but he feels that it is not completely impossible, and it is all about working on small things to improve his game. States that he has chatted with some key players and the local guys, and he admits that there is still work in progress. Tells that about the no-ball where he survived because of Heinrich Klaasen, and he feels that it is not the greatest of rules there and but it felt great to get a life there, and he liked that he hit a couple more boundaries after that ball. He jokingly says that he would buy a drink for Klaasen. Further says that they wanted to bat second, and it is quite difficult to judge a good score, but SKY and Hardik assessed the conditions well, and full credit to them. Says that the team is nicely shaping up, and they are getting along nicely forward in the tournament, and he hopes to contribute to the team’s win just like this. Admits that they have pretty great minds in the dugout who know how to make strategies and go forward even after losing a couple of games. Concludes it by saying that the environment here in IPL is a bit louder, but he is fully enjoying it, and he hopes to contribute more in the future.
Pat Cummins, the Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper, says that it wasn't the easiest wicket and they were a few runs short. Adds that sometimes you expect the wicket to be fast and fluid, but it was a bit tricky, and the cutters were holding in the pitch. Reckons that they had all bases covered, but with 160 on the board, you are always a bit short. On not using Rahul Chahar much, Cummins says that they had to go for wickets, and hence the pacers bowled more, and Chahar only got one over. Ends by saying that unfortunately, it hasn't gone their way this season, but they have a mini break now and will look to go again. Also mentions that the openers got through the Powerplay pretty decently and is looking forward to the next game at home.
It was another disappointing outing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, though to be fair, they were always short of runs on a testing pitch. Their bowlers gave it everything, but they really needed two or three wickets in the Powerplay to stand a chance. A dropped catch by Ishan Kishan off Ryan Rickelton early on didn’t help matters. To add to their frustration, they thought they had him shortly after, but Klaasen’s gloves were in front of the stumps, turning it into a No-Ball. Those little moments ended up making a big difference. The decision to bring in Rahul Chahar as the Impact Sub and giving him just one over also raised a few eyebrows. Skipper Pat Cummins led from the front with three wickets, while Eshan Malinga chipped in with a couple, but by then, the game had already slipped away.
Earlier in the game, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to put up a competitive total on a challenging surface. Abhishek Sharma provided a good, steady start, even as his opening partner found it tough to get going. Handy contributions down the order from Heinrich Klaasen and Aniket Verma helped push the total to something their bowlers could work with. Will Jacks was the standout with the ball, picking up a couple of wickets, while the rest of the bowling unit chipped in with a wicket each, except Deepak Chahar and Mitchell Santner.
After a quiet start in the first couple of overs, the MI openers began to find their rhythm, especially Rohit Sharma, who looked in sublime touch. He got off to a brisk start but fell to a full toss just when he seemed set. Ryan Rickelton and Will Jacks then took control, steadying the innings and keeping the chase on track. After Rickelton’s departure, it was SKY who injected some momentum into the innings. Jacks chipped in with a valuable 36 before departing, and then it was a few lusty blows from Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma that got them close. However, with the scores tied, MI lost two wickets in five balls, which affected their NRR, and they will hope it does not come back to haunt them.
Back-to-back wins for Mumbai Indians! Normal service resumes at the Wankhede as the Men in Blue get their campaign back on track. This was a complete all-around performance, with Mumbai keeping the dangerous Sunrisers Hyderabad in check right through the game. With just two wins from seven outings now, the visitors’ playoff hopes are hanging by a thread.
FOUR! FINALLY, MI GET A WIN HERE AND THEY CAN CELEBRATE IT! A short ball, around middle, Tilak Varma goes on his knee and changes his stance to reverse-sweep it. He beats the diving backward point fielder to his right and gets a boundary to seal the match. MI win by four wickets!

A dot ball! What an over from Eshan Malinga! Back of a length and around off, Santner dabs it down to point. MI still need that one run for the win.
Mitchell Santner walks out to bat now.
OUT! LBW! Eshan Malinga has got his second wicket or not? Naman Dhir has reviewed it. A yorker around middle, Naman Dhir shuffles across a bit and goes low as well to sweep it across the line. He misses and gets pinged on the front pad. The third umpire comes into action, but Naman Dhir has already walked back to the dressing room. UltraEdge shows that there is no bat involved and the Ball Tracking comes after a long wait, which presents that it is three reds and the on field call stays.
A low full toss and around off, Naman flicks it off the inner half of the bat but straight to mid-wicket again and still, MI need one run.
Nagging length and around middle, Naman tucks it to mid-wicket and can't get a single here.
Naman Dhir is in next.
OUT! CAUGHT! What an anti-climax for Mumbai Indians and Hardik Pandya here as they need just one run, and he has to go back. A low full toss, around middle, Hardik Pandya flicks it but straight to the man at deep mid-wicket, where Ishan Kishan takes this catch.
A high full toss, around middle, Tilak Varma looks to flick it to the leg side but gets a bit of top edge towards bdeep third for a single. The third umpire has been called to check whether it is a No Ball or not. He checks the replays and calls it a fair ball.

SIX! UP AND OVER! Patel goes fuller and around off, with pace taken off, Hardik Pandya reads it early and sets himself at the deep inside of the crease. Hard length and around middle, with pace on this time, Tilak pulls it to deep square leg for a single.
Good effort in the deep! An off-cutter into the pitch, back of a length and around middle, Tilak Varma swivels and pulls it to the right of deep backward square leg. NKR again does well there to slide it and saves a couple of runs.

Hits the length hard but way outside off, Hardik Pandya lets it go. Wided.

A good bouncer, on middle, Hardik Pandya sways away from it.
STRATEGIC BREAK! The last two wickets from the skipper, Pat Cummins, have brought back SRH in the game as MI were cruising before that. Still, MI have pretty good batting remaining and they need just 35 runs in the last 33 balls. It should be an easy task for them, but no one knows. SRH just need to chip in more wickets, and they know that they can still win the game from here. The match has gotten a bit interesting now. With that, the skipper, Hardik Pandya, comes out to bat now.
OUT! TAKEN! A massive wicket for Sunrisers Hyderabad as they get rid of the set Will Jacks. Pat Cummins has his third, and he continues his good run of form against the Mumbai Indians. He bangs this one hard into the pitch around off, gives no pace again. Jacks stands back and looks to slap it over mid off but ends up hitting it a lot flatter. Zeeshan Ansari once again is there and takes a fine catch. WJ goes for 36 off 26, and MI are 128/4 now, still needing 35 runs in 33 balls.

WIDE! Flatter delivery, pushed well wide of the off stump line and a wide is called.
Hold on! What's happening here? Oh..wow! The third umpire has spotted that Heinrich Klaasen's gloves were in front of the wickets when Ryan Rickelton hit the shot. It is going to be a No Ball. Ryan Rickelton gets a big life here. Sunrisers Hyderabad camp cannot understand and they are getting an explanation from the fourth umpire, but rules are rules.
NO BALL! Zeeshan Ansari has got the breakthrough in his first over but hang on, there is a late call to halt Ryan Rickelton from heading back to the pavilion. Wow, what a moment in the game and it is the fourth umpire that has noticed something. The replays roll in and we can see that when Rickelton connected the shot, the keeper's gloves were just ahead of the stumps and the bowler has to suffer. It won't be a wicket and it will be a NO BALL to rub salt into the wounds as well. Coming to the ball, it was short and wide, Rickelton rocked back to go over covers but ended up slicing it to the right of covers where Pat Cummins put in the dive and took a fine catch. It won't count though!
Beaten! Tossed up around off and it is the googly that turns away from the left-hander. Ryan Rickelton looks to slog sweep but is well beaten and almost gets stumped as well.

Starts off on a shortish length and bowls it straight at the stumps, Jacks presses back and tucks it away to deep mid-wicket for a run.
Strategic Break! Mumbai Indians are cruising along in this chase. Rohit Sharma played a fine cameo, and it is Ryan Rickelton who is carrying the momentum now. He is being supported by Will Jacks, who will be eager to make an impact with the bat, which he has not done yet this season. Sunrisers Hyderabad will hope that with the field restrictions now lifted, their spinners and medium pacers can get them back in the game with a few quick wickets. Also, Zeeshan Ansari is to bowl after the break.

He mistimes it badly as the ball goes high in the air to long on where Tilak Varma takes an easy catch moving forward.

Gets the yorker spot-on this time and Klaasen just walks across to the off side before jamming it wide of mid on for a single.

FOUR! Streaky but will do nicely for SRH as the 100 also comes up. Pace-off, on a good length and angling it across off, Klaasen stays back to cut but gets an outside edge that goes well to the left of short third and rolls away into the fence.
Full and around the fifth stump line, pace-on, Nitish Kumar Reddy stays deep in the crease and drills it down to long off for a single.
STRATEGIC BREAK! The innings of SRH hasn't taken off, and they are reeling at 95 runs after the 14 overs, which they wouldn't have thought, as they have lost just three wickets. Though the batters have tried to break through, but they have failed in that, and the pitch is not that flat where you can play on the up. Heinrich Klaasen will have to bat out here till the end to make sure that SRH go past the 150 mark, which should be a defendable score. On the flipper side, MI have been brilliant with their bowling changes as they haven't let the batters to go settle down for one bowler, and the part-time spin of Will Jacks has proved too good for them. How will SRH end up here? Will MI take more wickets? Let's see how the final overs unforl here in Wankhede. With that, Trent Boult comes back into the attack.

Well, well! Travis Head starts walking back rather frustrated, but the 'siren' goes off and it is a NO BALL from Hardik Pandya! Replays show that it is a big front foot no ball, and could this be the second wind Head so desperately needs?
Pace off, back of a length and angling in. Nitish Kumar Reddy backs away and plays the ramp. However, as there is no pace on the ball and it does not carry to third man. They cross.
Short of a length and on off, Nitish Kumar Reddy hops up and initially thinks to ramp it but withdraws his bat at the last moment.

Short and on off, Travis Head stabs it to long off for one more. 5 runs and a wicket from the over.
Flighted, full and on middle, turns in, Nitish Kumar Reddy clips it through mid-wicket for one.
Strategic Break! SRH 68/2 in 8.4 overs, and this has been a sluggish inning thus far from the Men in Orange and with Abhishek Sharma back in the hut along with Ishan Kishan, Travis Head needs to step up. Mumbai have bowled well with their pacers getting some swing early on, and they made good use of the slower deliveries as well. There is some purchase for the spinners as well, and SRH just haven't found rhythm thus far. Let's see how the crucial middle phase pans out as Nitish Kumar Reddy walks out to bat now.
OUT! STUMPED! Will Jacks strikes now! He sees the batter advance and bowls this slower through the air, outside off, turns away a bit. Ishan Kishan is halfway down the track and throws his bat at it, but gets beaten on the flight and is stranded. Ryan Rickelton collects it behind and comfortably breaks the stumps. Kishan fails to make any impact against his former side, and Sunrisers Hyderabad are two down now.
Flatter, full and on middle, Travis Head works it to long on for another run.
Floated, full and on middle, turns away, Ishan Kishan works it to long on for a run.
Close! Pushed through quicker, full and around off. Travis Head skips down the track to play at it, but gets an inside edge that just goes past the leg stump to fine leg. A single is taken. Head gets away with it there.

Short and on middle, Ishan Kishan pulls it to deep square leg for one.
Ishan Kishan walks out to bat now.
OUT! TAKEN IN THE DEEP! You must have heard of the phrase 'Fortune favours the brave'. This proves that. Hardik Pandya, after receiving treatment, decides to play through the pain and now gets the breakthrough for his team on the very next ball. He bangs this one hard into the pitch, just outside off. Abhishek Sharma backs away to cut it away, but fails to keep it down and also does not get the elevation to go over the ropes. The ball flies to deep point where Raj Angad Bawa (Sub) misjudges it initially, but adjusts in the end to dive forward to take a fantastic catch. Abhishek walks back for a breezy 40 off 28, and the 'Travishek' stand has been broken at 59.
Uh, oh! Hardik Pandya seems to have just twisted his left ankle here and has probably signalled for the Impact sub right away. This could be very, very bad news for the Mumbai Indians. For now, the physio is out to have a look. Hopefully, Pandya can play a part in this game. Hardik is getting that left foot heavily strapped, and he might try to play through the pain here, but it doesn't seem good for MI with Karn Sharma also off the field at the moment with a split-webbing. Some positive news now as Pandya is back on his feet and is heading back to the bowling mark. Let's see how the next delivery goes...
FOUR! Just over! A full toss, on off, Abhishek Sharma slices hard as the ball flies just over point for a boundary. Pandya has done some damage to his ankle and signals to the bench straightaway.
Back of a length and on middle, Travis Head pulls it to deep square leg for a single.
Hardik Pandya begins with a fuller one but way outside off, Travis Head leaves it alone. Wided.

Just short of the fielder again! Abhishek Sharma is riding his luck again like the last match! Back of a length and around off, takes the pace off, Abhishek Sharma looks to cut it but he is a bit early in his shot because of the lack of the pace. The ball goes through the upper half of the bat towards cover where it is just short of Tilak Varma and goes past him. They get two runs there.

Another one that drops short of Karn Sharma at mid-wicket but unfortunately, he seems to have split his webbing here. For a spinner, that could be catastrophic but hopefully, he is fine.
Was that short again or Karn Sharma has dropped it? It has fallen just short! Hard length and around off, Abhishek Sharma remains on the back foot and swings it across. He mistimes it badly as the ball goes flat towards mid-wicket where it bounces in front of Karn as he collects it with both hands. There is a lot going on in the field! On a good length and outside off, Travis Head cuts it to cover point and the fielder makes a poor throw to the keeper which was over his head and the batters get an extra run there.
Has that carried to Karn Sharma? It falls just short of him and SRH are living very dangerously here! Deepak goes fuller and on the pads, gets it to nip back in a bit, Travis Head leans on and flicks it. The ball goes flat towards mid-wicket where Karn Sharma goes low to catch it but the ball just lands ahead of his hands.
On a dragged length and around off, swinging away, Head comes forward and drops it down to mid off.
Lands it full and outside off, Sharma drives it on the up through covers and picks up a single.
DROPPED! Will Jacks has dropped a regular slip catch and how costly will it prove for MI? Deepak begins with a hard-length ball, around off, Abhishek Sharma comes out charging him on the very first ball. He gets a thick outside edge that goes over the head of the fielder at the first slip, where Will Jacks leaps up to catch it, but the ball bursts out through his hands. The ball goes behind the wickets and the batters get a couple of runs.
All in readiness for this contest to begin! The two umpires are out in the middle as the players of Mumbai Indians can be seen in a huddle near the ropes. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head will be the opening pair for SRH as usual. Deepak Chahar has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Let's play...
The skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Pat Cummins, says that he is fine to bat first as the wicket looks pretty good and they are also going in with the same team. Adds that the guys have been training here in Mumbai, and they are looking fresh to go. Mentions that about the break that they have got, it depends on each individual, and sometimes, you like it and sometimes, you don’t, but the five days have passed quite quickly. States that the ball is reversing at a couple of venues where it is dry, but reckons that it won't reverse much with the dew setting in.
Hardik Pandya, the captain of Mumbai Indians, says that his decision to bowl first is a lot to do with the dew factor. Adds that last time they practised, there was a lot of dew, and it tends to become good for batting in the second innings. Mentions that it was a great win and a close one, but it has given them a lot of confidence. Says that it was a collective decision to send the in-form batters up the order, but they are going to back everyone as they have done so far. Further, they don't have to worry about Jasprit Bumrah's fitness, as he is fully fit and firing. Informs that they are unchanged.

Mumbai Indians (Playing XI) - Ryan Rickelton (WK), Will Jacks, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya (C), Naman Dhir, Mitchell Santner, Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, Karn Sharma (In for Rohit Sharma).

The conditions at Wankhede are tailor-made for a high-scoring game. With short boundaries and a flat pitch, batters usually have a field day here. The weather looks clear, and there might be some dew in the second inning, which means the captains will most likely prefer to chase. With both teams looking to climb up the points table, stakes are high, and we could be in for a classic. Will it be the mighty MI at home or the fiery SRH riding the wave of history? Stay tuned, as the toss and lineups are coming your way shortly!
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Hyderabad are still riding high after pulling off one of the most stunning chases in IPL history, hunting down the target of 246 in just 18.3 overs against Punjab Kings. The star of the show was Abhishek Sharma, who exploded with an unreal 141 off just 55 balls, delivering one of the most entertaining innings of the season. That knock has certainly fired up the SRH camp, and they’ll be keen to stick with their aggressive brand of cricket. However, their bowling was a clear weak link in that game. Mohammad Shami, in particular, had a night to forget, conceding 75 runs in four overs, a record he won't want to remember. SRH will need to tighten their bowling unit if they want to challenge Mumbai in their own backyard.
Mumbai Indians pulled off a thrilling win in their last game against Delhi Capitals, a match that looked to be slipping away before a dramatic turnaround in the final overs. Despite Delhi having the upper hand for most of the chase, MI’s sharp fielding with direct hits, smart bowling changes, and clutch moments in the end tilted the game in their favour. The decision to bring in spinners at key stages worked brilliantly. With the bat, Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir played crucial hands to get them to a competitive total. One slight concern is Jasprit Bumrah’s off-colour outing, where he was unusually expensive, possibly still finding full rhythm post-recovery after an injury. Also, Rohit Sharma’s lack of runs is something MI would want to address quickly. But with the win under their belt and the home crowd behind them, Mumbai will be confident of building momentum from here.
Hello and welcome to the 33rd match of the Indian Premier League 2025 from the Wankhede Stadium, as Mumbai Indians take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in what promises to be an entertaining clash. Both teams have had a rough start to their season, winning just two out of their six matches, but their most recent victories have brought a fresh wave of confidence into their camps. With playoff spots slowly beginning to take shape, every win becomes crucial, and this game is no different. Expect fireworks as two teams with big hitters and match-winners face off under the lights.
... MATCH DAY ...
The battle lines are drawn at Wankhede as Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad clash in a crucial mid-season encounter, with both sides desperate to climb out of the bottom half. Four weeks into IPL 2025, the tournament has delivered spectacular and unmissable entertainment, with the top five teams locked on eight points, creating a traffic jam at the summit. Both teams enter this contest riding waves of momentum after pulling off remarkable victories. MI defended 205 to halt Delhi Capitals' winning run, while SRH completed the seemingly impossible by chasing down a mammoth 246 against PBKS. Mumbai's recent outings have been run-fests, with scores consistently crossing 200. Though they've fallen short in two nail-biting chases, their batting firepower remains undeniable. The hosts' primary concern lies at the top. Rohit Sharma hasn't hit his stride, managing just 57 runs with a highest score of 18. His intent to provide quick starts has been evident, but substantial contributions have eluded him. Ryan Rickelton's inconsistency compounds their opening woes, leaving the middle order of Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, and Hardik Pandya to shoulder the scoring burden. Floating batter Naman Dhir has emerged as a valuable asset with his timely cameos. The return of Jasprit Bumrah has transformed MI's bowling arsenal, providing captain Hardik, himself among the tournament's leading wicket-takers, with a luxury few teams enjoy. Mitchell Santner's economical spells have created pressure, while Karn Sharma's match-winning performance last time out suggests Mumbai may have finally found their optimal combination. The Sunrisers Hyderabad have etched their name in IPL folklore with remarkable achievements across recent seasons. Not only do they own the two highest team totals in tournament history, but they've now completed the highest successful chase of this season. This statement victory snapped their concerning four-match losing streak, breaking T20 cricket’s all mathematical limits. Their resurrection came through a breathtaking display of power hitting as Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma unleashed and effortless boundary-laden carnage at the top. Abhishek's scintillating century has breathed new life into SRH's campaign just when they needed it most. Yet beneath this explosive opening pair lies a middle order conundrum. With only Heinrich Klaasen delivering consistent performances, their batting depth remains questionable despite their record-breaking exploits. Their bowling unit features three world-class operators, now strengthened by the addition of Eshan Malinga, giving them tactical versatility across all phases. However, a glaring weakness persists in their spin department, hampering their ability to control proceedings during the crucial middle overs. As they head to another batting paradise in the form of Wankhede, SRH will be banking on their newfound momentum and explosive opening combination to overcome these structural challenges and climb the congested table. In the battle of recent records versus historical dominance, Mumbai Indians hold a commanding 13-10 advantage in head-to-head encounters with Sunrisers Hyderabad, including a decisive 5-3 edge at their Wankhede fortress. This psychological upper hand could prove crucial as both sides look to build on their momentum-shifting victories. The Wankhede wicket, traditionally a batting paradise, sets the stage for what promises to be another run-fest between two teams desperate to climb the table. And as the saying goes, when in Bollywood, always expect a blockbuster!

Much fuller and around off, Hardik drills it to long off for a single. MI need just 3 now.
FOUR! STREAKY! Full again and well outside off, Hardik Pandya shuffles across to cover the stumps and swings at it. Gets a thick outside edge that flies over the short third man fielder for a boundary.
SIX! UP AND OVER! Patel goes fuller and around off, with pace taken off, Hardik Pandya reads it early and sets himself at the deep inside of the crease. He lofts it and gets it past the wide long on fielder, Pat Cummins, for a biggie and Cummins gets his knee stuck in the turf as well while attempting the catch to his right.

A tight single! Short of a length and into the body of the batter, Hardik Pandya pulls it to the right of mid-wicket and sets off for a quick single. The fielder, Nitish Kumar Reddy, makes a direct hit at the batter's end but Tilak makes it there in time.
