Surprisingly, out come Shimron Hetmyer and Riyan Parag to open for the Rajasthan Royals. On the other end, no surprises at all, Mitchell Starc is handed the ball for this high-pressure over. Here we go!

... SUPER OVER, FIRST INNING ...

Rajasthan Royals were firmly in control for most of the match and looked poised for a comfortable win, but they'll be disappointed with how they let things slip by taking it too deep. Now, with the Super Over underway, they'll bat first and look to make amends with a strong performance. Who will they nominate? We’re about to find out.

The first Super Over of the season is here! What an incredible comeback by Delhi Capitals! Just when it looked like the game was slipping away, they dug deep, held their nerve, and clawed their way back to level the scores right at the end. Absolute scenes as the match heads into a nail-biting finish! Buckle up, this is going to be epic!

OUT! RUN OUT! WE ARE GOING INTO THE SUPER OVER! Big stars deliver when needed and Mitchell Starc has nailed every ball on the money while defending under double digits in this final over! Spears in another yorker at the stumps, Dhruv Jurel clips it all along the ground through mid-wicket and runs the first one hard. The skates are on for the second one as well, but Jurel slips a bit midway while rushing back for the second. Axar Patel throws it flat towards KL Rahul at the batting end, and the latter comfortably whips the bails off with Jurel out by a country mile.

Fancy a Superover? Rajasthan Royals need 2 runs off the final ball. It will be Dhruv Jurel on strike.

19.51

Only a single! Another pinpont yorker, tailing in on middle, Shimron Hetmyer clears his front leg and drills it down to the left of long on for a single. Shimron Hetmyer turns around for the second run, but Jurel sends him back. A good throw from Stubbs in the deep.

19.42

A bit too full, outside off, Shimron Hetmyer crouches and mistimes it off the toe-end of the bat. Manages to clear the cover fielder, but only for a couple of runs. Shimron Hetmyer is fuming at himself for not getting the timing right. The shot was on with the fielder in the ring. But this is excellent stuff from the Aussie bowler!

19.32

Gets another yorker in, around off, does Starc, Shimron Hetmyer carves it out to deep cover and pushes hard for the second run. Karun Nair runs across, picks up and throws it to the keeper and KL Rahul dislodges the bails, but only after Hetmyer gets home safely. Two taken! 5 needed off 3 now!

19.21

Just a single! This is high-quality from Starc! A yorker, wide of off, away from the batter's arc. Dhruv Jurel squeezes it out, and the ball rolls near the strip to the off side. Only a single. 7 needed off 4 now. Pressure on the batters!

19.11

Starts off excellently does Starc. A yorker darted on the stumps, with mid off in the circle. Shimron Hetmyer stays leg side, and can only jam it to the mid on region for a single.

Who will bowl the final over? It will be Mitchell Starc (3-0-28-1). Rajasthan Royals need 9 runs off the last 6 balls. Can Starc defend 8 runs? We could be in for a close finish!

Length ball, on off, swatted down to the right of long on for a single. Rajasthan Royals need another 9 runs to win off the last over!

18.52

A slower one again, length ball, on off, Shimron Hetmyer pulls it to deep mid-wicket and the call is for two straightaway. The throw comes in flat to the keeper as Hettie hares to complete the second. KL Rahul collects the ball and whips the bails in a flash, but Shimron Hetmyer just pushes hard to get home in time. Two taken.

18.41

A yorker on money, on middle, drilled wide of long on for a single.

18.36

SIX! Salt on the wounds! A slower one, on a good length, at off, Dhruv Jurel clears his front leg and powers the ball just behind long off, over the leaping Tristan Stubbs right at the circumference of the boundary ropes.

18.22

IN THE AIR... PUT DOWN! Did he have a chance to take it, or not? Mohit Sharma is absolutely fuming at it. A slower back-of-the-hand delivery, on a fuller length, around off, Dhruv Jurel looks to hoist over deep mid-wicket, but is through the shot very early. Mistimes it high up in the night sky as the ball descends towards deep square leg. Sameer Rizvi tries to settle under it, but misjudges it slightly. Grabs it with a reverse cup, but loses his balance. And while falling over, he lobs the ball back before leaping over the ropes. Two taken.

18.11

A slower one, wide of off, full in length, Shimron Hetmyer crouches a bit and heaves along the ground to deep mid-wicket for a single. 21 more needed off 11 balls.

18.11wd

WIDE! He will have to bowl it again! Trying to keep it away from the batter's reach, Mohit bowls it beyond the tramline outside off. Shimron Hetmyer lets it be. Wide called.

INSIDE EDGE, FOUR! Fortuitous! Hands on heads for Starc! Another toe-crushing yorker, swinging back into the leg stump, Shimron Hetmyer gets tilted and gets a fair bit of inside edge on it as he looks to jam it out. The ball passes scarily close to the leg stump, and rushes through the left of short fine leg fielder for a boundary.

Shimron Hetmyer walks in next for Rajasthan Royals.

17.4W

OUT! LBW! TRAPPED IN FRONT! Mitchell Starc provides a wicket at the most crucial time for DC! Nails in a pinpoint yorker, with a considerable reverse movement into the batter. Nitish Rana is pinned on the crease and looks to whip it off across to the leg side, but plays all over it and the ball smashes right on his boot. A confident appeal and the umpire takes no time to raise his finger. Nitish Rana departs for 51 (28) and Rajasthan Royals are 161/3, needing another 28 runs to win, off 14 deliveries.

17.31

Banged short on top of middle, Dhruv Jurel drags it down to long on for a single. Good from Starc so far. Just three singles of the first three balls.

17.21

Bowls from a wider angle, but slips in a full toss, on off, Nitish Rana goes back in the crease and heaves along the ground through mid-wicket for a single.

17.11

Speared fuller, on off, Dhruv Jurel looks to loft straight but gets an inside edge to fine leg region for a single.

Unfortunately, Kuldeep Yadav is making his way out of the field with some discomfort on his left shoulder after that valiant effort in the deep.

On a fuller length, at the stumps, Nitish Rana shuffles well across off and scoops it just over short fine leg. Kuldeep Yadav runs after it from the inner ring, puts in the dive, even gets his hands, but parries into the fence eventually. The physio rushes to tend to him and he is walking off now as he fell on his left shoulder. This also brings up Nitish Rana's FIFTY!

16.51

Pitched outside off, on a length, Dhruv Jurel cuts it to deep backward point for a single.

16.40

Nice comeback from Mohit! A slower back-of-the-hand delivery, full and outside off, Dhruv Jurel is months early into the drive and misses to connect.

Commentary

Welcome back for RR's response with the bat. The umpires are out to the middle. Delhi Capitals' players can be seen in the last-minute team huddle before scattering out to the park. The left-right combination of Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal walks out to open for Rajasthan Royals. Also, Abishek Porel's evening is done as he has been replaced by Mukesh Kumar as the Impact Player for DC. Mitchell Starc, as usual, will open the bowling attack for the home side. Jaiswal to face him. Off we go...

... THE RUN CHASE ...

Well then, 188 is a good total on what appears to be a slowish kind of a wicket. Pace off has worked like a charm for the pacers, while the spinners too, have enjoyed some grip and turn. But with the dew factor, how will the DC bowlers operate? Also, they would be aiming to get through the RR top order very quickly, which has been a bit inconsistent. A strong start with the ball is what will put the Capitals ahead in the game. But can the Royals get off to a positive start with the bat this time around? Stay tuned as the run chase is up next very shortly.

Abishek Porel from the Delhi Capitals is up for a chat. He says the wicket is a bit slow and the odd balls are sticking in the surface, which makes this a good total for them. Says the plan was to play with positive intent and make the most of the Powerplay with the stickiness in the wicket. Mentions that short of a good length is the area that they will have to target to get the most purchases and informs that there is not much of dew as yet. Lauds the knock from Axar Patel that turned the momentum and appreciates the way Stubbs finished the inning to get them to a good total.

Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma, tailor-made for strong finishes, delivered the knockout punch with explosive cameos at the death, transforming a middling total into something substantial. The pair ransacked the bowling attack with four of the final five overs going for double digits, as DC plundered a massive 77 runs during the last 30 balls. Adding to Rajasthan's woes was their increasingly sloppy fielding when it mattered most.

Axar Patel then launched a much-needed counterattack to breathe fresh life into DC's stagnating innings. His aggressive approach shifted momentum slightly, with fortune favoring them when Parag put down a crucial chance offered by Stubbs. And with the dew settling in, it became a bit tricky to bowl in the right areas. However, handbreaks were again pulled by Theekshana's timely wicket of the rampaging Axar, but only for a brief period.

The pitch definitely had something in it, with the deck offering just enough grip to keep the batters from throwing their hands freely at the ball. Still, KL Rahul and Porel managed to grind out a valuable 63-run partnership through that cat and mouse battle, only for disaster to strike as both set batters departed in quick succession, with KL falling first, followed shortly by Porel, just when they were finally looking to shift into top gear. As a result, DC slipped from a comfy 97/2 to 105/4.

KL Rahul then attempted to up the ante and picked his bowlers to accelerate. However, RR's spinners kept the batters in check, with the pitch showing some assistance for the spinners. What followed was classic cat and mouse cricket – RR's spinners setting traps while Porel and KL responded with calculated strike rotation, picking their moments to pounce on loose deliveries.

Abishek Porel got DC to a blazing start, but after those initial fireworks, things slowed down massively with Jake Fraser-McGurk departing on another single-digit score, and soon after, Karun Nair perishing on an unfortunate run out. Once RR's bowlers weathered that early storm, they clamped down hard. The first two overs went for a whopping 33 runs, but DC limped to just 46/2 by the Powerplay's end, managing a measly 13 runs in the following four overs as the initial fireworks fizzled into a slow burn.

It's been a strong comeback for the home side in the last five overs. Rajasthan Royals kept things on a tight leash in the middle overs, but let the momentum slip in the backend. Of course, the dew has played its fair part in it, but RR might be reflecting that they could have been much clinical with the way they finished, and also with the way they fielded, making some schoolboy errors.

DROPPED by Maheesh Theekshana! An 11-ball over topped with another dropped catch to conclude the innings. Sandeep Sharma goes hard into the deck, on a back of a length and way outside off, Tristan Stubbs looks to pull but gets a top edge that goes high above short third. Maheesh Theekshana settles under it and tries to take it with both hands but the ball just pops out of his hands. The batters take a run and Delhi Capitals end at 188/5.

19.51

Short again, with pace taken off, over middle and off, Ashutosh Sharma flat bats it to long on for one.

19.41

Goes into the surface, on a shorter length, just within the tramline on off, Tristan Stubbs reaches for it and drags it down to long on for a single.

19.36

SIX! This is turning out to be a huge over for the Delhi Capitals! Another full toss, on middle and leg, Stubbs clobbers it over cow corner for a biggie.

19.24

FOUR! Tristan Stubbs makes good use of the Free Hit. A low full toss, on leg, Tristan Stubbs steps across and flicks it behind square on the leg side for a boundary.

19.22nb

NO BALL! Just got from bad to worse for Sandeep Sharma and Rajasthan Royals. Sandeep oversteps and nails the yorker, on middle, Ashutosh Sharma digs it out to deep square leg for one. A Free Hit to follow.

19.21wd

WIDE! Make that 4 off the over. Sandeep Sharma is suddenly struggling to find his line right. Pace off, on a length and way beyond the tramline on off. Left alone by Ashutosh Sharma.

19.21wd

WIDE! That's the third wide off the over already. Full and down leg this time.

19.21wd

This is superb bowling! Short and over off, Ashutosh Sharma gets on top of his toes and looks to ramp it behind but misses. It is called a fair delivery and Ashutosh Sharma sends it upstairs for a check. The Ball Tracking shows the ball to be passing over the batter's head height, and the on-field call is overturned to a wide ball. Great use of a review this.

19.10

Executes what he intended to do on the last ball perfectly this time. On a length, well outside off, away from the batter's arc. Ashutosh Sharma cannot reach for it as he looks to swipe across.

19.11wd

WIDE! Pace off, on a length but wayward outside off. Left alone by Ashutosh Sharma.

Quick one from Archer, full and on middle and leg, Ashutosh Sharma takes his front leg out and looks for a heave across the line but misses. The ball deflects off his pads and rolls onto the leg side and the batters sneak in a leg bye. 16 runs off that over.

This has been a good phase for Delhi Capitals. And with Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma, the two big hitters, tailor-made for such situations, DC would be aiming to get past the 180-run mark. Which, of course, would be a challenging score.

18.61wd

WIDE! A slower bouncer, way too short and over off, Ashutosh Sharma takes a step out but lets it pass.

18.54

FOUR! Third boundary off the over and both players are toying with the field placements. Short one, over middle and leg, Ashutosh Sharma was cramped in for room but still manages to ramp it past short third to his left for four more.

18.41

Fires in a yorker, on middle and leg, Tristan Stubbs makes room and jams it out to short third off the outer half of the bat for a single.

18.34

FOUR! Smartly done. Jofra Archer takes pace off and drops it very short, on off, Tristan Stubbs moves across and waits for an eternity for the ball to arrive. Scoops it back over the keeper's head for a boundary.

18.21

Archer goes into the deck, on a back of a length, on off, Sharma pulls it to deep mid-wicket for one.

18.14

FOUR! Sublime placement. Jofra Archer goes full and outside off, Ashutosh Sharma gets low and squeezes it right through the gap between short third and backward point for a boundary.

Jofra Archer (2-0-17-2) will bowl the penultimate over.

An appeal for LBW and up goes the finger! Dhruv Jurel walks to chat with Rana and gestures that it hit his bicep. He signals the 'T' and reviews the on-field decision! Kuldeep dishes a googly, and lands it fuller, and right in front of the stumps, giving some more revs on it. Dhruv Jurel is a bit early with the sweep shot and plays down the wrong line. The ball passes past the outside edge and hits on his right elbow. No need for UltraEdge and the Ball Tracking shows the ball missing the top of off by a considerable margin. Jurel survives a scare.

DROPPED AND SIX! Tristan Stubbs out of all the fielders to put it down! Full and on middle, Nitish Rana tonks it over long on. Tristan Stubbs stands tall, just in front of the ropes and tries to take it over his head with both hands but fails to grab on and lets it pass through, over the ropes for a six.

Strategic Break. This contest is poised nicely as with the wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Delhi Capitals will look to clamp down the scoring rate in the next few overs. They have done well by conceding just a solitary boundary, after the halfway mark. As usual, the main man for DC, Kuldeep Yadav has kept things really tight from his end. A couple of more wickets here in quick succession will definitely peg RR on the back foot. Also, their problems against the spin have been evident this season. But, with potential hitters yet to come, and with eight wickets in the bank, they will look to charge on after the break. Here's Axar Patel back into the attack.

The ball seems to go very close to the inside edge and past the pads too, on the way to the keeper. The UltraEdge shows no spike as the ball passes the bat, but a spike does appear when the ball grazes the thigh pad. The on-field call of NOT OUT stays. Delhi Capitals lose their review.

The left-right combination of Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal walks out to open for Rajasthan Royals.

18.41

Fires in a yorker, on middle and leg, Tristan Stubbs makes room and jams it out to short third off the outer half of the bat for a single.

18.34

WIDE! A bit beyond the tramline outside off. Sandeep Sharma will have to relaod that one.

17.40

Was there a nick? Sanju Samson definitely feels so and has sent it upstairs for a check. Sandeep Sharma drops it very short and over middle and off, Ashutosh Sharma looks to ramp and misses out. The ball goes past the bat and Sanju Samson takes a catch behind the stumps. The UltraEdge shows no spike when the ball passes the bat and the on-field call of NOT OUT stays. Abishek Porel gets his front leg out of the way and attempts to clear long off, but doesn't quite get his bat under it while swinging through. Ends up slicing it off the toe-end of the bat and Riyan Parag takes a regulation catch while running a few steps ahead. Abishek Porel departs on 49 (37) and Delhi Capitals are 105/4.

Strategic Break! Delhi Capitals were building some good momentum with a promising partnership, but the dismissal of KL Rahul has once again shifted a bit of pressure back onto them. That said, there's still plenty of firepower left in the shed. This current pair will aim to steady the ship with a short stand before launching into an aggressive finish. On the flip side, Rajasthan Royals had to work hard to break that 63-run stand, but now that they've got the breakthrough, they'll be hunting for more. Expect them to tighten the screws in these final overs, looking to dismantle the core and restrict DC to as low a total as possible.

Strategic Break. After the initial few fireworks, RR's bowlers have quite well managed to keep things quiet. The first two overs went for 33, only to be followed by 13 in the next four overs, with two big wickets. KL Rahul and Abishek Porel will aim to pick their bowlers to accelerate from here, as they wouldn't want to get too bogged down in the middle overs. Karun Nair from Delhi Capitals is in for a chat. He says it was special to have his family around when he scored a 50 and wants to repeat it again in this game. Mentions he wasn't targeting any bowler and was only focusing on the balls and he had complete freedom of thought and wanted to just commit to the plans he had in mind. Says he worked hard and, more importantly, started believing in himself and trusting his instincts to play the way he wanted to, which has helped him.

The captain of Delhi Capitals, Axar Patel, says that they would have bowled first as well. Says in the last game, they were in the hunt, and because of the dew factor, he wanted bowl. Adds it is important to learn from the mistakes. Also says it is crucial to finish the games, and talks about having those discussions in the team meetings. Admits they got a bit relaxed during the chase last time around. Informs that they are going unchanged.

The skipper of Rajasthan Royals, Sanju Samson, says it looks like a good wicket to bowl first and ideally it should get better later on, which is why they want to bowl first. Adds that this being early in the tournament, they want to back themselves to play as per the conditions and not follow a trend. Mentions that they have to put the past behind them and with a couple of days' gap, they have gotten time to sort things out. Concludes that they go unchanged into this game.

TOSS UPDATE - The flip of the coin lands in favor of Rajasthan Royals and Sanju Samson elects to BOWL first.

PITCH REPORT - Graeme Swann is along with Shane Watson at the centre for the pitch analysis. Swann says this is a gorgeous place to play cricket and mentions the dimensions for this game, informing that the square boundaries are 61 meters and 62 meters, while the straight hit is 72 meters. Further adds how difficult this place is for the bowlers with such small dimensions. Watson joins in and says it is a nice surface as seen in the previous game where Mumbai Indians scored 205 runs batting first. Adds that it is a bit drier than the previous game, and it will offer enough assistance for the bowlers. Observes a decent grass cover and says it's a bit patchy, which could give bowlers a bit more purchase. States that the average winning score while batting first is 230 runs. Further talks about a bit of grip that the spinners could get and reckons that variations in pace will be crucial too.

Both teams have served some real close games and their head-to-heads also suggest the same, with a 3-2 lead for RR in the last five meets, but the Capitals have been unbeatable at home against them with a perfect 3-0 record at this venue in the last three games against these rivals. Will this be another batter’s show, or does it have some added spice to it? Stand by for the all-important toss and team announcements coming up shortly.

Batting heaven is what Delhi has become these days. The recent DC-MI thriller saw another mountain of runs as the hosts nearly scaled a massive 206-run target. But don't write off the bowlers just yet – there's something in the surface for the spinners too, as in the previous game played here, 9 wickets were taken by the spinners across both innings. And with high quality spinners in the likes of Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Vipraj Nigam, and Kuldeep Yadav in action, all are likely to influence proceedings this time around.

Rajasthan Royals' campaign has been a rocky road so far, with their journey marked by two early losses, a brief revival, and then another pair of defeats. With just four points from six outings, it's crunch time for RR to get their act together. Their batting scorecard makes for concerning reading as only Yashasvi Jaiswal has managed a couple of fifties, while skipper Samson and Nitish Rana have just one each to their names. Riyan Parag and Shimron Hetmyer have blown hot and cold, showing glimpses, but without much sustained impact. Despite their impressive Powerplay numbers with the bat, RR's middle-order crumbles alarmingly against spin - a weakness DC's twirlers will be licking their lips to exploit. Archer continues to deliver with the ball, but he's fighting a lonely battle and needs his bowling colleagues to step up if the Royals are to salvage their campaign.

The DC juggernaut came to a halt as the home side faced their first defeat of the season a few moons back against MI. Though still comfortably nestled in second spot, DC will be eager to return to winning ways. Their strength has been the all-round team performance, with KL Rahul anchoring the batting unit masterfully. Karun Nair unexpectedly took center stage in their previous outing, with cricket giving him a ‘second chance’ to redeem himself after a long exile from the playing elevens. However, the opening combination remains problematic. Faf du Plessis continues to battle fitness issues, while Jake Fraser-McGurk's form has been making them sweat a bit. The bowling unit, in contrast, looks rock solid with Starc and Kuldeep leading the pace and spin departments with clinical efficiency.

This 2025 IPL season has been shattering cricketing calculators at every turn. We've seen the unthinkable become reality, from a gigantic 246-run target being hunted down to a modest 111 being successfully defended, with Punjab Kings remarkably starring in both cricket oddities. And folks, we're not even at the halfway stage yet. As the tournament progresses, expect more nail-biting finishes and statistical anomalies that will keep you glued to your screens and questioning everything you thought you knew about T20 cricket.

Hello, everyone! Games come thick and fast in the Indian Premier League, and we are back to serve you another dose of dopamine as the tournament progresses into its 32nd match. The capital city will welcome the high-flying Delhi Capitals, who are set to host the struggling Rajasthan Royals. The Arun Jaitley Stadium will light up once again in what promises to be the perfect midweek cricket fix you've been craving.

... MATCH DAY ...

We are almost at the halfway point in the IPL 2025 season, as we are on to match number 32. In this fixture, it will be the Delhi Capitals taking on Rajasthan Royals at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Delhi Capitals have had smooth sailing in this season, as they have won 4 out of their 5 games and are sitting pretty in the top 4 of the points table. They would have well been 5 out of 5 had they not created a mess of their chase against MI, where they were in the driver’s seat for most part of it. Coming to their batting this season, KL Rahul has been their go to man, as he has notched up two 50-plus scores in his 4 outings and both the knocks have been match winning ones. Apart from him, Faf du Plessis did give a glimpse of his own self in the chase against SRH. The likes of Abishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs have got a few starts, and in their lower order, Ashutosh Sharma and Vipraj Nigam have made material contributions. In their last game, Karun Nair came in as an impact player and showed a glimpse of what he can offer as he tonked MI Bowlers at will, scoring an impressive 89 of just 40 balls. In their bowling department, Kuldeep Yadav really has been their pick of the bowlers, as he seems to be at the peak of his powers, bowling with a lot of control and guile. He is DC’s leading wicket taker this season, having taken 10 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 5.60. Mitchell Starc has looked close to his best, having taken 9 wickets, however, his last two games haven’t been up to the mark as he was smashed all over the park. Axar Patel, their captain, is nursing a finger injury and he has bowled very little this season. Their young leggie Vipraj Nigam has been mighty impressive with the ball. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals , haven’t really looked like the team of the last IPL cycle, where they played with a lot of clarity. Their victories and losses this season, have come in sets of two, as they lost the first two games, then won their next two and then again lost their next two games. In the batting department, their premier opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has now notched up two 50s in the last 3 games and he is slowly getting into the groove. His opening partner, Sanju Samson, has been getting starts, but has failed to convert those into big ones after his fifty in the first game. Similarly, Riyan Parag too has got starts but has failed to capitalize in most of the innings. In the lower order Shimron Hetmyer has played a few cameos as he has handled the finishing duties well. Overall, RR’s issue seems to be their lack of batting depth which doesn’t allow their batters to bat with freedom and they need to address it quickly, as the tournament reaches the halfway stage. In their bowling department, the biggest positive for them has been Jofra Archer's return to form, as he has looked very threatening post that game against SRH, where he conceded a record 76 runs in 4 overs. Their Sri Lankan spin duo of Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga have been a little on and off, and RR would be hoping for the spin duo to find some rhythm as soon as possible. Their death over specialist, Sandeep Sharma has been doing a tidy job. So, coming to this fixture, it promises to be a high scoring one, as teams batting first at Arun Jaitley Stadium have consistently crossed the 200 run-mark since 2024. Rajasthan Royals would be itching to get back to winning ways, whereas Delhi Capitals would be hoping to put their previous loss behind them, and would be looking to approach this game with a fresh mindset. So, can Rajasthan deliver a royal performance at the Arun Jaitley stadium or will the Capitals get their 5th win of the season and solidify their position in the top 4? We shall find out.
